    OMG you were so rude to Kristin !!! and saying things like "I think you're mixing politics with science"...says someone who obviously has not studied science and thinks its totally devoid of social and cultural and political influences as if this thing called "science"exists as some utlimate objective truth. If you mean there is some biological imperatives or determinants in making "women more compassionate than men"on average and that something in our biology might lead to certain sex differences,...thats not the same as science",which is a methodology and grounded in cultural norms and values. Kristin handled your rudeness very well I think and was much more skilled than you I might say. Convincing your "conservative clients" of things about privilege and how men and women are socialised differently and how maybe their ideas of masculinity and what it is to be a man are not simply grounded in their biology but it social and cultural beliefs is also "political"..its just that YOUR politics you consider to me more "scientific"

    Thank you for this. Currently struggling with burnout and self-compassion seems to be a key aspect to healing. It often feels like weakness or self-pity to have self-compassion, but I realize that I am often my own worst enemy when it comes to self-criticism and self-shame and acceptance and compassion for ourselves and our struggles is an important practice.

      It’s odd, there being a black hole at the center of the milky way reminded me how terror managment theory is at the center of the human psyche. It’s like a master theory that leverages self esteem attatchment relationships and cultural and political worldviews that “we must defend”

      @@newpilgrim you did the right thing. I needed to leave college teaching due to serious illness. Much of the stress I felt was the heartbreak of watching my field, Dev Psych & Creativity in children, get more & more axed & sterilised into “competencies”. The question I kept asking was “how can you possibly measure “competency” in creativity?!!” & that which I was cultivating in students. They kept axing hours from the syllabus in my area & introducing more & more documentation & banality. We now hve Early Childhood Educators who can’t tell children stories, set up creative experiences or immersive, problem solving outdoor play areas. They don’t know how to sing, dance & play with them, extend language. The spaces for children are now built to be concrete, sterile. No trees, no gardens or grass, levels or forts. Heartbreaking. You did the right thing & yes, the authoritarianism & censure was starting up when I left.

    ...also Ruby can disagree as much as she likes but the research !!! the research shows that poverty,early childhood adverse experiences,insecure housing,unstable social environments etc...if Ruby thinks these aren't causal factors then she is going against overwhelming evidence to the contrary.Guess what being poor means you are more likely to get depressed,being homeless or insecurely housed means you are more likely to get depressed,living ina shitty neighbourhood means you are more likely to get depressed,....these are also indicators fo diagnosis with psychosis too...as well of course cannabis and other drugs which have been shown to induce psychosis amoungst certain people.

  • @upendasana7857
    @upendasana7857 2 месяца назад

    Also the research on Alzheimers is out and so many many other factors are being found to contibute to alzheimers...to say ptsd is brain condition ..yes of course everything has a neurologial pathway,a biochemical pathway,every feeling and expereince we have is based in our neurbiology ..happiness,love,joy,anger..they are ALL neurological,biological happenings in our body but does not mean ptsd is abrain dis-ease.thats the point.Stress is a neurological,biological phenomona happening in our body,how we perceive,process events etc will effect to what extent we feel stress and its impact on us. That is the point of doing mindfulness or becoming aware of how we talk to ourselves or our mental maps or "self talk"whatever.I do not really know what Ruby is saying and her views contradict what people like Gabor Mate say who is way more qualified and draws on extensive research into mond/body connection and the effcts our social and cultural lives have on our bodies and neurobiology.....god Ruby...please! you're so irresponsible talking about things you are not qualified to do in such emphatic ways. The fact that those who expereince what would be considered traumatic events have a supportive person or community with which to share and process these things is what makes ALL the difference.Unprocessed trauma is what causes ptsd.

  • @upendasana7857
    @upendasana7857 2 месяца назад

    ...also for Ruby to come out with such emphatic statements as "schizophrenia is in the brain and bipolar.."honestly there is NO definite research to show this or brain scans which show "the schizophrenic brain or bipolar brain..." there maybe sensitivities ina person genetic make up but to not understand social,cultural causal factors and that it is also to do with how various cultures make sense of unusual experiences is unscientifc and culturally blind. Honestly she needs to stop coming out with such emphatic statements when she is NOT qualified to do so.As Gabor Mate a doctors who I'm sure you know is an expert in trauma likes to use a biopsychosocial model understanding it is a mix of causal factors and that genes are more complicated than we think and there might be genes for senstivity which make someone more vulnerable to certain illnesses or trauma,compunded with social,environmental factors.
